Through a number of exercises, students will be guided in the use of materials, learn about the importance of line, contour, mark making and tone, and explore other ways to create and present drawings.

This is an opportunity not to be missed!

Cost: $200 / 4 weeks.  Casual $60/ lesson.

Shibori Dyeing Workshop 2

Shibori Dyeing Workshop 2 with

If you missed the last Shibori workshop, then here is your chance to join us in the new year for another one!

Explore shibori techniques to create your own beautiful pieces in this face to face workshop. Shibori dyeing is a way of making patterns on fabric by exposing only some portions of the fabric to dye. Tie, pinch, fold, concertina, clamp and stitch your fabric then dye it.

This workshop is a great opportunity to enjoy handmade processes and have fun learning how to continue these traditional crafts.
Feel free to bring anything smallish that you want to dye – preferably cotton.

*Please bring your own lunch – there is a fridge, but no reheating facility in the gallery. Lunch may be purchased from the nearby café if you prefer. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.

Cost: $100 includes materials. Please bring an apron and rubber gloves.

Random Weave Baskets

Random Weave Baskets with

Spend the day learning to use locally sourced plant material and cane to create visually stunning and functional baskets. Students will learn the basic skills of the random weave technique to make their own unique basket. A guide to what plants to use and how to harvest and prepare these plants will be given.

This workshop is suitable for the beginner and an excellent way to explore your own creativity. Trudi will guide you through each step in a relaxed and friendly environment so that each person will take home their own unique and gorgeous basket.

Students will need: secateurs, bucket, wear closed in shoes, old clothes or apron.

Cost: $100 includes materials.

Please note: Because of Covid-19 considerations, lunch will NOT be provided. Please bring your own lunch. Arrangements can be made to pre-order from the local cafe/ takeaway if you wish.

In this workshop participants will learn how to make a small coiled basket that is both functional and visually appealing and, at the same time, discover the joy basketry brings and the sense of calmness it creates.

Participants will learn the basics of coiled basketry with raffia, including – how to start, form and finish a basket.

Trudi will guide you through each step in a relaxed and friendly environment so that each person will be confident in the process of making a basket. Notes will be provided.
