Wal has been painting for 25 years, mostly in oils and mostly in landscapes and seascapes, although he has painted numerous portraits as well.  Most of his works feature water somewhere and many feature local scenery – he’s lived for 30 years in Caves Beach.  Others have depicted scenes ranging from snowscapes to tropical islands.

Several paintings have sold at art shows or through commissions.

Wal paints in a realist style, seeking accuracy in depiction of colour and mood.  He’s mostly self taught having sought guidance from various sources including books, art magazines and videos. Always therapeutic, painting has taken a larger slice of his time now he’s semi-retired.
